Hours; 12 hour shifts – 4 days on 07.00 – 19.00 – 4 days off – 4 nights on 19.00 – 07.00
Our client is urgently seeking and experienced and knowledgeable Controller / Operations Supervisor.

Person specification;
The right person for this role will be/have;
• Strong experience of managing a fleet from within the Bus / Coach industry • The ability to work under pressure and in a time critical environment. • You should have at least two years of operational experience and willing to work on rotating shift. • Reliable and committed • A high standard of written and spoken English • Highly computer literate • Self Motivated • Flexible
Candidates will be at an advantage if they hold a current PCV Driving License (Category D) and the Certificate in Professional Competency Road Transport Operations (CPC).
Duties required and role;
Principal Responsibilities and Accountabilities
1. Supervise and monitor the departments operations on a day to day basis to meet performance targets ensuring that statutory regulations are complied with.
2. Supervise and monitor the drivers on a day to day basis to meet performance targets ensuring that statutory regulations are complied with.
3. Collect and maintain all operational records as directed (including drivers hours, vehicle movements, driver walk around check records, vehicle defect records and engineering related activities etc).
4. Ensure collection, storage and analysis of all digital tachograph data (vehicle and driver) reporting any and all infringements both to the Operations Manager and driver concerned.
5. Assist in decisions and implementation of the agreed operational plan to achieve maximum operational efficiency.
6. Assist in the preparation of efficient schedules in accordance with statutory requirements.
7. Ensure effective communication to directly controlled staff, report all incidents and matters of concern both verbally and in writing to the Operations Manager.
8. Undertake initial investigations in relation to performance and conduct related matters.
9. Ensure all operational staff comply with statutory and company rules and regulations (including but not exclusively):
a. Health and Safety b. Drivers Hours Regulations c. COSH d. VOSA
10. Undertake Initial Investigation of customer feedback (in conjunction with the Customer Services Manager and Operations Manager).
11. Provide input into recruitment and training of operational staff.
12. Develop and Maintain liaison with other departments as required.
13. Complete all reporting (daily, weekly, monthly and period) as required within the given timescale including performance statistics (e.g. mileage operated, lost mileage, vehicle and driver availability, incidents and accidents).
14. To operate and be conversant with the rota system for drivers and supervisors.
15. To operate and be conversant with the allocation system for vehicles including the scheduling of vehicles for mandated safety inspections, servicing and maintenance.
16. To carry out minor mechanical repairs in the absence of engineering support
17. To suggest route and schedule improvements to stimulate growth and improve efficiency.
19. To undertake driving duties as and when required to maintain the service .
